Drawn right into the story..

Dollycas's Thoughts
After two novellas to get us Someday Quilt Series fans back in the groove, Clare O'Donohue is back with a full length mystery and I am thrilled. I am so happy to return to Archer's Rest, New York and my quilting friends.
Eleanor is getting married and that means her friends are planning a wedding quilt and a shower plus Nell is helping with all the wedding details. Nell's parents even come home but not for the reasons you may think. Jessie is having a hard time dealing with his old partner's death but he is also hiding something. Jessie tells Nell to stay out of the investigation but she just can't.
Again we are drawn right into the story. Ducking bullets, shivering from the cold, and enjoying that wonderful smell and feel of new fabric. It really makes me miss being able to sew and quilt.
I am so impressed with the way I feel when reading these stories. They touch my heart but also test my mind as I follow the clues. Big changes are coming to Someday Quilts as Eleanor takes this big step. I have to say I am a little concerned but trust Clare O'Donohue to keep bringing me the stories I love! This will be just another twist!!

Very enjoyable

Nell, Jesse, Eleanor and the gang are back in the fifth book in the Someday Quilts series. Nell is in the midst of preparing for her Grandma Eleanor's wedding when a man is found dead outside Jesse's house. The past intrudes on the present when the identity of the man becomes known--he was Jesse's NYPD partner. With Jesse keeping secrets and refusing to open up, Nell turns to her quilting group for help. Together they race to gather information that will help Jesse solve the crime before someone else is killed.
The Double Wedding Ring is a great addition to a wonderfully written series. This interesting mystery is filled with secrets, lies, and betrayals, as well as friendship, family, and love. There are so many changes facing Nell in this book; she has some serious decisions to make.
I love this series. It is filled with such warm and caring characters. I think if I had to pick a fictional place to live, Archers Rest would be my choice. I do recommend this series. If you love cozy mysteries, give this one a try.

Great, as always!

I grew up reading the "Nancy Drew Mystery" books. I don't know if you could call it "reading" actually, it might be more appropriate to call it "consuming". My parents would pick up a pile of those books for me either from the library or the bookstore, and I would relegate myself to my bedroom for days on end finishing one book after the other. Throw in a couple "The Babysitters Club" books and I was one enthralled kid.
There's something about the way Clare O'Donohue writes, and the characters she creates that brings me back to that time. Each book in the "Someday Quilts Mystery series" has a puzzle that needs to be solved, and along the way you come to love the characters and care about what happens to them. They are quick, fun reads and I'm always left wanting more. "The Double Wedding Ring" did not disappoint and I think I finished it in about two days. The story grabs you from the beginning and keeps you in suspense until the very end.
The underlying plot which sets the stage for the book involves wedding planning and romance, but the suspense comes when Nell Fitzgerald is once again called to solve a murder mystery. Well, not exactly "called" but "compelled" to solve it. If you've read any of the "Someday Quilts Mystery" series you know what I'm talking about, and if you haven't read any of them and you grew up enjoying the same kind of books I did, I suggest you start reading right away.
