About the Author
Patsy Caldwell has been a culinary professional for more than fifty years in a career that has included teaching, catering, cooking, and writing. She is a mother of two and grandmother of two. She lives in Charlotte, Tennessee next to the water tower with her husband Bill where they enjoy entertaining anywhere from two to twenty two people depending on the occasion.
Writer Amy Lyles Wilson was born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi. Now based in Nashville, Tennessee, Wilson wrote the text for the New York Times bestselling cookbook Cooking with Friends, and her essay “The Guts to Keep Going,” about helping her mother adjust to widowhood, was featured on National Public Radio’s “This I Believe” and appears in This I Believe II: More Personal Philosophies from Remarkable Men and Women (Henry Holt, 2008). Wilson holds academic degrees from Millsaps College, the University of Mississippi, and Vanderbilt University Divinity School. Amazing cookbook. Unique.

I love this book! As all of my cookbook reviews say, I own more than 100 cookbooks. It's rare for me to find a new one that has much I haven't seen but this is one and will be on my "go to" list from now on.
I have southern roots and learned cooking from the many fabulous (and competitive) cooks in my extended family so there are recipes that are somewhat familiar; with a bit of a chatty intro to each chapter it was like coming home. It has a broad spectrum of recipes both "from scratch" and utilizing prepared foods.
It's arranged in chapters such as "All Politics are Local" or "Lending a Helping Hand" rather than the conventional "Meats" or "Desserts." There is a clickable Table of Contents, both chapter headings and recipes, and Index. There is no nutritional info but I don't care about that.
This is a must have cookbook.

Ya'll Come Over

Patsy Caldwell has once again created a great cookbook. I love the way the stories relate to everyday life and is a really good read. Not only are the stories funny and they also relate to the recipes Ms. Caldwell has provided us. Try the Strawberry Pizza!! I have tried many of these recipes and you will not be disappointed with this purchase. I have given many for gifts!

Great pics, great stories and great recipes

I love it. The author captured the style and personality of the southerner very well. I like that she had
pics to illustrate some but not all of her recipes. It averages a pic every 6-8 pages. She has a unique
style to her recipes. There were original recipes that I have not seen anywhere else in any other cookbooks.
I love the "outside the box" thinking in her recipes as well as the art of her southern story telling. In the
style of Paul Prudhomme the author gives a "lagniappe" or a little something extra in her homespun
southern stories illustrating her giftedness not only as a writer but cook. Kudos for an original cook
book.
