"You'll like this story," I told my wife.

It was love at first FRIGHT. Alex, the smitten, and Sarah, who got embarrassed as he quietly walked up and caught her with her skirt over ankle high at the water pump. Both were Christian so...forgiveness, romance, happy ever after. Hold y'ur horses. Alex joined a Memphis law firm outspokenly against women's suffrage. Sarah supported it feistily. Christians do disagree on some issues.
This story has a women's suffrage theme that blankets the 1916-17 era and drives conflict into a potential romantic pair. Then, in Tennessee it was a hot issue, opposed by a majority. America today has endorsed women's, minority, and equal suffrage--and its majority determines elections. Personally, I strongly believe in strong intellectual ability of women, the reason for my granted request of this book. A timely topic for Christian Historical Romantic Fiction.
Going separate career paths, found Alex and Sarah working in Memphis. He quickly shined in a prestigious law firm while Sarah turned heads everywhere--including suffrage meetings. Real historical notables and events came into play, and the reader forgets that this book is fiction rather than story-friendly nonfictional history. Multiple police investigations assisted in packing this novel with sub-plots. Only God (and author Sandra Robbins) knew the extent of what lay ahead for Sarah. Expect a thriller scene bit.
Not just romance; and safe reading for males, even when caught reading it in public places.

One of my favorite books...it will make you think.

I cannot say enough good things about A Lady's Choice. This book had me thinking for days, even now, after I read it. Color me dense, but until I followed Sarah on her journey to give women the right to vote, I had no idea of the hardships the suffragettes endured. But A Lady's Choice is more than that. It is the beautiful love story between Sarah Whittaker and Alex Taylor that started when Alex caught Sarah with the hem of her dress raised over her ankles. Sarah is a strong woman who stands for her conviction that women should have the vote. And this puts her at odds with Alex when he goes to work at a law firm that is openly outspoken against this movement. I started A Lady's Choice on a Sunday afternoon and finished it that night, staying up way later than I intended. Sandra Robbins did a wonderful job of keeping me turning the pages.

An unexpected bonus!

A Lady's Choice (American Tapestries series)
One of the best book choices that I've made in recent months happens to be Sandra Robbins' A Lady's Choice! Expecting to learn more about the struggle for voting rights for women along with an expectation of some romance added, I was pleasantly surprised to find a literary tapestry of historical facts, romantic involvement, and mystery woven together to make for an intriguing read! Sarah, Alex, and supporting characters became as my own personal friends and acquaintances and I experienced joy, pain, and sorrow with them at every stage of their struggle. I highly recommend this well researched and highly crafted book. At the end of each book of Ms. Robbins that I read, I look forward with eager anticipation for her next one.
