Kostensenkungen, keine fixen Kosten, Flexibilität und Konzentration auf die Kernkompetenz eines Unternehmens sind häufige Argumente, die als Vorteile der Cloud vorgetragen werden. Da überrascht es nicht, dass Anbieter die Entscheidung über die Frage des Fremdbezugs von Cloud-Diensten gerne auf einen einfachen Kostenvergleich reduzieren.
Aber dies ist eindeutig zu kurz gedacht, da bei der Entscheidung über Eigen- oder Fremdbetrieb von Cloud-Diensten vielfältigen Risiken und offene Herausforderungen berücksichtigt werden sollten. Falls diese Gefahren im Entscheidungsprozess nicht berücksichtigt werden, so besteht die Gefahr, dass das gewählte Informationssystem rechtliche Anforderungen oder Anforderungen der Anwender nicht erfüllt, was zu Folgekosten führen kann.
Die Arbeit hat das Ziel ein Modell für die Einführung von Cloud Computing in Unternehmen und Organisationen zu beschreiben. Cloud-Dienste können dabei sowohl durch unternehmensinternen Eigenbetrieb, als auch durch unternehmensexternen Fremdbetrieb bezogen werden. Zu diesem Zweck werden, nach der Einleitung im ersten Kapitel, im zweiten Kapitel die theoretischen Grundlagen des Themas erläutert. Im dritten Kapitel werden die Chancen, Risiken und Herausforderungen, die bei der Einführung des Cloud Computing zu berücksichtigen sind, als Ergebnis einer Literaturanalyse aufgeführt. Die Inhalte dieses Kapitels bilden die Grundlage für ein Modell zur Einführung von Cloud Computing, das in Kapitel vier beschrieben wird. Ihren Abschluss findet die vorliegende Arbeit in Kapitel fünf, in dem die Vorbereitungsphase dieses Modells anhand einer Fallstudie getestet wird.
Darüber hinaus soll die Arbeit die Hypothese überprüfen, ob in den nächsten Jahren traditionelle Informationssysteme weitgehend durch Public Cloud-Dienste ersetzt werden.
