A Dover reprint of reference math

The basics and some applications of Stokes flow
("Micro" means here the small Reynolds number limit)
are covered in great detail. The mathematical analysis
is accessible, well presented, directly useful for students
in engineering and science, who need basic reference,
e.g. for programming solver codes, or benchmark cases
for their validation. The state of art in analyzing creeping
flows has not changed in the last 15 years, but the scope
of applications has. In particular, microfluidics are not
covered directly, issues like dense particles or bubble and
droplet dynamics must be consulted about in other volumes.

If you intend to learn hydrodynamics (HD), stay away from this book. As having expressed by Authors in the introduction section, the Batchelor or Lamb would be a better starting point to plunge into the topic. On the other hand, if you need the HD-interaction terms between two spheres, or singularity expansions, i.e., for rotational or translational motion of a sphere/cylinder, this is it. Not much text, mostly useful derivations and identities. Note that most derivations are for small Reynolds-number regime as also indicated by the name of the book.
